Tri-City Talents join Royals

The Douglas College Royals are proud to announce the commitments of Amanda Kristiansen and Sadaf Ataullah Baresh to the 2017-2018 women’s soccer program.

Amanda Kristiansen

5’9” Forward/Midfielder

Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club (CMFSC)

Dr. Charles Best Secondary (Coquitlam, BC)

With the addition of Amanda Kristiansen, the Royals have found a player who could potentially put herself at the center of the Royals’ offense. Focused, determined, and aggressive, Amanda has the qualities that could put her, and the Royals on top of the PACWEST for many years to come.

Oliver Ceron, Kristiansen’s head coach on the CMFSC U18 team had nothing but praise for the forward. “Coming into a strong program with talented players, I expect Amanda’s adjustment to the PACWEST to be seamless,” he said. “Amanda is strong on the ball, has a good vision of the field,  and can provide the Royals provides flexibility to play as a target striker, in tandem, or dropping into an attacking midfield role”.

Although new to the Royals team, according to head coach Chris Laxton, Kristiansen is already making her presence known. “Amanda has already made a considerable impact in her first few weeks with the program. She is a traditional number nine in every sense. She likes to get forward and finish or create chances. She can hold up the ball well and can combine in transition. Most importantly, she is very coachable and is already growing as a player. She is an exciting addition at a position we didn't really have last year”.

Kristiansen, who already has a 2014-2015 BC AAA Provincial Championship to her name is looking forward to adding more

Sadaf Ataullah Baresh

5’5” Right Back/ Winger

Afghanistan Women’s National Team (2016)

Port Moody Secondary (Port Moody, BC)

Even before committing to the Royals program, Sadaf Ataullah Baresh was already making headlines. A member of the 2016 Afghanistan women’s national team that participated in the 2016 South Asian Football Federation Women’s Championships, Sadaf has experience on an international level, which is something that most PACWEST players could only wish they had.

A dynamic player, Sadaf brings a combination of aggressive play with consistency to boot. Her skill and dedication have already impressed her new head coach, Chris Laxton. “Sadaf is a technical and hard-working player. Her experience will be a huge asset to the program,” Laxton praised. “She has played in the MWSL for a number of years, so playing against adult players will not phase her. She also has had experience playing in international tournaments representing Afghanistan and is used to a professional environment. Sadaf will add dimension to the team as she can play anywhere on the field”.

“I am honoured and excited to start off a new chapter in my soccer career”. – Sadaf
