Bring The Bats Home

Bring The Bats Home

It was the start of dreams for the Royals Softball team last weekend as they brushed past the Bellevue Bulldogs. A fantastic outing from Keeley Ainge and Kira Staley, as well as excellent fielding from the Royals, kept the Bulldogs to just one run and 7 hits in two games. Staley had a complete shutout, and nearly a no hitter with an ERA of 0 while striking out two. Ainge also almost had a shutout as she pitched her way through seven innings with little trouble. She gave up just one run (unearned), and struck out six batters on her way to her first win of the season.

All the while, the Royals bats rang out in glee as ball after ball just went right into the pipe. They racked up a total of 18 runs and 23 hits in 12 innings over the weekend. Talk about a smashing start.

This weekend, the team will be hosting their first home games of the season. Visiting them will be Everett Community College and Pierce Community College. Everett are coming off a recent loss to Pierce but have otherwise started their season out strongly. Able to get hits from anywhere in their batting rotation, the Royals will need some to be on top of their game to keep the Tritons offence from getting out of control.

Pierce Community College will be playing the Royals on Sunday. Coming of a win against Everett, Pierce will be looking to carry their momentum forward against the Royals. However, they’ve had a bit of a tough offseason, and they haven’t looked the strongest under pressure. Though, in the games they have played, it hasn’t been scoring that was the issue for them. Pierce knows how to score, that a proven fact.

You can come out and support the Royals as they take on Everett and Pierce this weekend! The Royals play Everett Community College at 12pm and 2pm tomorrow at Softball City. They will play Pierce Community College at 12pm and 2pm on Sunday at Softball City.
