Royals take bite out of Bearcats

The Royals were dominant in a single game tilt against the CBC Bearcats, winning handily 80-41.

The story of the game would be told in the defensive end, where the Royals would force the Bearcats into 39 total turnovers. The game would break open in the second quarter with the Royals outscoring the Bearcats 25-6 off of 10 Bearcat turnovers and thefts by Sierra Gallo and Sydney Fraess. Shelvin Grewal would be the offensive spark in the quarter, netting 9pts off 3-5 shooting beyond the arc.

Second-year forward, Fraess continued her solid play this season, finishing with a game high 15pts and collecting 14 caroms in just over 25mins of play. Grewal would be the most helpful of the squad, finishing with 7asts and 13pts of her own.

With the win, the Royals move to 4-2 good for 3rd spot in a tightly contested PACWEST conference with a consequential upcoming weekend against the current #2, Capilano Blues.

The Blues and Royals have not met thus far this season. Statistically, the match-up could not be more evenly drawn up, from free throws to rebounds, only a few digits separate the two teams.

The single game on Friday night will close out the first half of the season for this feisty and underrated team who have turned some heads with their tenacious play. Women tip-off at 6pm with the men's game to follow at 8pm.
