The Douglas College Royals have been out in the community spreading holiday cheer.

Our women's basketball program hosted their annual Christmas Classic High School Girls Basketball tournament November 30–December 1. The tournament featured sixteen eighth grade girls teams from the surrounding areas in the lower mainland. A fun time was had by all with half-time shooting competitions, contests, and a team creativity challenge-best team poster! The Royals were true ambassadors to the community involving themselves in every aspect of the organization of the tournament from hosting each team to refereeing each game.

Our women's soccer team had their annual holiday kickabout with the Vancouver Street Soccer League (VSSL) a volunteer-run, non-profit organization which hopes to addresses the issue of homelessness, marginalization, and addiction through inclusivity and soccer. The Royals have partnered with the VSSL for the past 5 years and host an annual soccer clinic for their league in September.

"It's such a great opportunity to give back doing the thing I love and my teammates love. On those days it doesn't matter where you come from, we all just play soccer, we have fun, and we love to play the game." said fifth-year senior and team co-captain, Taylor Wettig.
