Home opening weekend is special for every team in their own way. After having their initial home opener cancelled due to turbulent weather, the Royals softball team hosted Everett Community College on Saturday in the team's first home games of the year. Keeley Ainge got the start for the Royals and it was like the team that played at Softball City last year never left.  Ainge pitched out of her body and mind. Her 135 pitches struck out 9 batters, closing out 3 of 7 innings on her own.

                Everett just could not read her stuff. But they did manage to push a couple of runs across, despite everything. With Keeley keeping the Everett batters occupied, the Royals bats went to work. Bella Kennedy batted two hits which was finished by the strength of Kolby Hamilton, who brought two Royals across the line with her deep drive to the outfield. Daniella Vilio was too dangerous to let swing and was walked four times in the game. She punished the Trojans with a run, and the Royals managed to grab a win, 5-2.

Game two saw Kira Staley on the pitching mound for the Royals. Riding a five inning shutout from last week, Staley continued to bring the heat. She kept the Trojans off the scoreboard for four innings before letting two go by in the fifth, ending her 9 inning shutout streak. However, her team had some big bats of their own.

Daniella Vilio was finally shown some pitches, and she proved to Everett why they chose to walk her four times in the first game. She crushed every ball in the batter's box, getting two hits and three RBI at four at bats. Michaela Moore and Bella Kennedy also had two RBI a piece. In the end, the Royals just swung too well for the Trojans to overcome. They won the game 10-2 in five innings, and improve to 4-0 on the year. The series moved the Royals to second in the North division behind Edmonds Community College who have two games on the Royals at 6-0.
