Tyson Embree

Position: MB
Hometown: Kelowna, BC
High School: Kelowna Secondary
Club: KVC
Why I Chose Douglas: I chose Douglas because I really enjoyed the coaching at team bc and at Douglas there are multiple coaches from that program. Additionally when I came to watch a game the team immediately welcomed me and was quick to try and get to know me.
3 Words to Describe me: Reserved, empathetic and generous
Coaches Comment: Tyson is a multisport athlete to join us from the Okanagan powerhouse program - KSS. He has versatility to play both as an opposite and a middle blocker. We're grateful Tyson has chosen to study and develop at Douglas College, and we're confident he's impact our program for years to come. 

Bryan Jhutti

Why I Chose Douglas: I chose Douglas because of their amazing athletic program, familiarity, and the high standard of learning.
3 Words to Describe me: Analytical, Optimistic, Diligent
Coaches Comment: Bryan is a student athlete who takes his craft seriously on the court, and is driven in the classroom. We've been impressed by how quickly Bryan has developed over the past few years. Our group of middle blockers this year will have a diverse range of athletes, all capable of contributing. It's going to be fun watching Bryan compete with the group, and grow our program. 

Tyson Koop

Club: Jr Bison's
Why I Chose Douglas: I chose Douglas because of the Science program, as well as the opportunity to fight for a CCAA championship every year. Jay reached out and it just seemed like a perfect fit.
3 Words to Describe me: Competitive, Cerebral, Compassionate
Coaches Comment: Tyson is a firey setter, with competitive drive, and will make those around him better.  He comes to our program at time when we graduate our 5th year setter Jared Collin, and will push with returning setter Elijah Kim to lead our offense. Tyson comes from a Volleyball family, and strong volleyball community in Manitoba. We're excited to see Tyson to leave his mark with the Royals program. 

Cam Powell

High School: Mount Boucherie
Club: KVC
Why I Chose Douglas: Douglas College felt like home when I first stepped on campus/met the guys, and I'm excited to be apart of the team
3 Words to Describe me: Driven, Adventurous, Hardworking
Coaches Comment: Cam is student athlete the athleticism and drive every coach looks for in an athlete. The combination of his arm and jump are a comb that will allow him to succeed and score in the PACWEST. This combined with the drive will take Cam a long way, and help move our program forward.

 

Jayden Quinto

Hometown: Coquitlam BC
High School: Riverside
Club: Ducks
Why I Chose Douglas: I chose Douglas College because the team has been very strong over the past few years. The team is young so I believe it will be a fun, fresh start with a new group of guys.
3 Words to Describe me: Driven, Passionate, Optimistic
Coaches Comment: We're proud to welcome Jayden the competitor and student athlete to our program. On the court, Jayden's physicality will stand out immediately. He will be able to score from both antennae, the front and back court. His skill set coming out of high school is similar to graduating Royal Reid Marriott's was. We're setting the bar high with Jayden, and we're excited to see him carve his own path at Douglas.

Jake Thompson

Hometown: Brandon, MB
High School: Neelin
Club: BVC
Why I Chose Douglas: The reason why I chose Douglas is from talking around the volleyball community, I heard that Douglas runs an elite program with a coaching staff that wants to see players develop and have success on and off the court and I was fortunate enough to have Douglas give me the opportunity to play a sport that I love again.
3 Words to Describe me: Competitive, Persistent, Outgoing
Coaches Comment: Jake is student athlete we have been interested in recruiting for a few years, but timing hasn't been right. It's great Jake is now joining our program. He comes from multisport background, and family with strong ties to university sport. He's going to be great addition to our Royals athletics family. 

 

Brennan Young

Hometown: Surrey BC
High School: Panorama Ridge
Club: Air Attack 
Why I Chose Douglas: It is close to home with small class sizes
3 Words to Describe me: Smart, Kind and Witty
Coaches Comment: Brennan is another recruit in this years class that adds to our team's overall physicality. He has been coaches by assistant coaches Andrew Robson, and Travis McClellan the past few club seasons, I'm confident he'll transition smoothly to our program, and challenge our group daily.
