The 2019-2020 edition of the Royals men's soccer team returns a mostly veteran line-up who will be looking for redemption from last year's disappointing post-season end. The Royals had looked poised for a return to the CCAA National Championships, where two years prior, they had earned a silver medal finish. On the heels of an 8-2 regular season record and an 8-0 drubbing of the Langara Falcons in the final regular season game, the Royals hopes were clipped by those same Falcons in a thrilling PACWEST Championship semi-final rematch that ended in penalty kicks.

"Obviously we feel we had a huge letdown last year after having a successful season and losing in the provincial semifinals.  It is a redemption year for the returning group and the incoming players know the importance of this season's goals." – Coach Toor

Turning the page, the Royals are once again positioned for another successful campaign. Veteran returning players Burhan Waisy, Taylor Richardson, Alejandro Varela and Quinn Desaulniers will feature prominently in each phase of the game

Alejandro Varela, returning from a year hiatus and a member of the 2017 CCAA Silver medalist team, and second year standout Burhan Waisy will anchor the back line along with returning seniors Roz Aghabaygy and Adam Qumizakis.

Second-year Quinn Desaulniers will control the middle of the park and is expected to build upon a successful rookie year.

Up front Taylor Richardson will be counted to fill the net and build on the 6 goals he scored last season. They Royals led the league with 39 goals last year.

Rounding out the roster are two experienced international recruits, brothers Rafael and Felipe Domingoz. Felipe, a 6'5" keeper will be an imposing presence in net while Rafael will partner with Quinn to control the middle.

Other keys additions include Milan Gandesha who will join Taylor on the forward line and be counted on to contribute offensively.  While freshman additions Ben Beaulieu, Marco Consiglio and Abdul Ali are all poised for breakout rookie campaigns after having impressive pre-season outings.

The Royals open their season on an away and home split with the Langara Falcons, Saturday, September 7th at Langara and Sunday September 8th at Cunnings Field Coqutilam Town Centre. Game times are 3:30pm and 2:30pm respectively.
