Week 7 of PACWEST action saw the Royal's women soccer team take on the Capilano Blues in a top class clash between the two best teams in the league. The Royals were looking to lock up a first place seed at the PACWEST championships, as well as threepeat as league champions. The Capilano Blues were chasing that spot. A win from either team would mean the league in their hands.

It didn't take long for the Royals to get rolling. Their early goal came off the leg of an unfortunate Capilano defender. 6 minutes in, Royals up 1-0. The Royals would pressure and test the Blues a few more times in the first, but keeper Brittney Roussy was able to stay the pressure.

A goalkeeping change at halftime saw Nikki Gerbrandt come in take over for Roussy. The Royals welcomed her with immediate pressure. Their early prodding would reveal another break, and the Royals exploited, at the expense of yet another Capilano defender. 2-0 Royals, both off of Capilano legs. While the Royals pressed for a third, they were unable to crack the Blues lines.

Jaime Petersen was the third Capilano boot to find the net, bringing the game close in the 80th minute, 2-1. However, the Royals held on strong. A 2-1 win means the Royals are your PACWEST Soccer regular season Champions for the third year in a row. Their record of 7-3-2 places them at the top of the league with 23 points.

Next week, the Royals will play in the PACWEST Soccer Championships, hosted by Quest University. They enter as the first seed and will take on the VIU Mariners in the first round.
