The Douglas College Royals men's basketball team remain undefeated as they won their seventh straight game of the season defeating the Capilano University Blues 80-59.

The Royals were in control for much of the first quarter pushing the lead to 19-14. However, an 8-point Capilano run at the end ultimately led to Capilano leading 22-19 at the end of the first.

At the start of the second quarter, the Royals countered Capilano's run in the first with a 9-point run of their own with the help of fifth-year forward Reese Morris, who scored 12 of his 18 first half points in the second and finished the game with a season-high 32 points.

The Royals were up 38-33 until a Capilano run capped off by a shot from third-year guard Michael Kelly tied the game up to end the first half.

In the third quarter, adding onto Morris's contributions was fourth-year guard Courtney Anderson who scored 9 of his 17 second-half points in the third quarter, helping the Royals take the quarter 60-52. Anderson finished the game with 26 points.

The Royals then began to really take control of the game in the fourth with an 11-1 run to start off the quarter, outscoring the Blues 20-7 to take this game 80-59.

The Royals finish the semester 1st in the PACWEST conference standing so far with 14 points and when talking about what's contributed the most to their success so far, Royals head coach Joe Enevoldson said:

"I think we have such a variety of different ways to score the basketball and I think we can score at all three tiers of the floor. I think we can really dial in defensively when engaged and you saw that in the second half. I think we'll be a tough out for any team in the country and that's kind of our goal."

The Royals next home game will be on Saturday January 11th against the VIU Mariners.
