Cavanagh Whitely has stepped down as Head Baseball Coach for the Royals for the 2019-20 season. The change comes after a 9-year tenure at the helm of the only Canadian institution in the highly competitive North West Athletic Conference (NWAC). Competing against great programs south of the border is a daunting task but Whitely and his staff have met the challenge. Under his leadership, the Royals have made five appearances in the NWAC Super-Regional Playoff Tournament with the best result coming in 2015, where the team earned a berth in to the NWAC Baseball Championships. While wins and losses are one part of the equation of coaching success, Whitely takes pride in the victories off the field and in the classroom as well.

"The scholarships earned to four year universities, the degree achieved, or the dream of representing your country on the field fulfilled. The fact that I was able to play a small part in the development of our student-athletes makes all the difference to me. I hope that any player that came through our program is able to look back fondly and see that they became a better person while competing at the elite levels of the sport" said Whitely.
