Women's Soccer Falls in Bronze Semi-Final; To Play for 5th

The Cavaliers used a strong second half to power them to the 2023 CCAA National Women’s Soccer Bronze Medal Match with a victory on Thursday versus the Douglas College Royals.

After a scoreless first half, the Cavaliers finally solved the Royals defence in the 63’ when Brianna Pinazza tucked the ball into the corner of the net.  Champlain Sainte-Lambert maintained their momentum, scoring a second goal in the 71’ when Emilie Grondines converted.

With time ticking away, the high-powered offence of the Douglas Royals cut the deficit in half when they scored in the 84’ with a goal from Haylie Husting.

They would continue to pressure, but they were unable to score the equalizer, ultimately giving up a goal in the second minute of injury time when Sara Botelho scored to give the Cavaliers the 3-1 win.
