Men's Soccer Lose a Heartbreaker in PACWEST Gold Medal Match

The Douglas College Royals Men's Soccer team gave it their all but ultimately came up just short in their bid to repeat as PACWEST champions.

After falling down 2-0 early and down to 10 men in the second half, the Royals could have given up. Instead, they rallied and scored two goals in the final ten minutes. Corwin Schieck scored in the 82nd minute, while Luke Shackleton scored off a header in the 95th minute.

The game came down to a dramatic penalty shootout. At stake was not only a PACWEST championship banner but a berth to the CCAA national tournament. A save by Matthew Miller boded well for Douglas, but the Royals ultimately lost 4-3 on penalties.

Corwin Schieck was named Player of the Game for Douglas. Matteo Falcone was named the tournament's best midfielder.
