Douglas College Men's Basketball Program Welcomes 4 Players Ahead of 2025-26 Season

The Douglas College Royals are pleased to announce the addition of four student-athletes to the men's basketball program before the start of the 2025-26 PACWEST Men's Basketball season.

Derrick Monroe

Position: Guard/Forward
Height: 6'4"
Previous School: Feather River College
Hometown: Las Vegas, NV

Derrick Monroe comes to Douglas College from Las Vegas, Nevada, after starring the last two seasons at Feather River College in California where he led the Eagles to a 18-11 overall record and #10 seed in the CCCAA NorCal Playoffs. Monroe averaged 17.4ppg, shooting 48.4% overall, including 39.1% from 3. Derrick added 8 rebounds, 2.1 steals, and 2 blocks per game on his way to being named 1st Team All-Conference for the 2024-25 season.

Olan Smith

Position: Guard
Height: 6'3"
Previous School: Burnaby Mountain Secondary
Hometown: Burnaby, BC

Olan Smith led the Burnaby Mountain Lions to a third-place finish in the 11-team Burnaby/New Westminster league in his Senior year. Smith led his squad, scoring 29ppg to go along with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals per game on his way to being named a city and conference all-star.

Demi Akinmoyero

Position: Forward
Height: 6'5"
Previous School: St. Joseph's High School
Hometown: Saskatoon, SK

An athletic forward from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Saskatoon, Demi Akinmoyero averaged 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists per game as a Senior for the Guardians. Demi has played club basketball with YXE Elite and UPrep and looks to contribute to the Royals during the 2025-26 season.

Carter Reynolds

Position: Guard/Forward
Height: 6'6"
Previous School: Carihi Secondary
Hometown: Campbell River, BC

Carter Reynolds joins the Royals from Carihi Secondary in Campbell River. A long and skilled forward, Carter was a member of the Basketball BC Academy program in 2024-25 and picked up numerous all-star awards and accolades during his high school career. Carter will redshirt with the Royals in 2025-26 and continue to develop on the court and in the weight room, to contribute to the Royals in 2026-27 and beyond.
