Steve Beauchamp

Steve Beauchamp is entering his fifth year as head coach of the Douglas College Women’s Basketball program. However, he is no stranger to the Royals. Steve previously spent 10 years behind the bench of the Men’s Basketball program from 1984-1993. His return to the Royals speaks to one of the keystones of being a Royal, and that is: Royals always bleed green.

Needless to say, Steve Beauchamp is beyond qualified for the head coach role. He brings over 30 years of playing and coaching experience to the team, and his knowledge will give future generations a deeper level of insight into the game. A local and community orientated man; Steve has spent his life coaching at the CCAA and high school level, and at the community level.

Steve’s coaching philosophy revolves around getting the most out of the team he coaches. He always wants his team to overachieve. He aims to have his teams play hard but maintain respect for their opponent. His players would describe him as: “Passionate, knowledgeable, experienced, driven, dedicated, and adaptable.”

A family orientated man, Steve has raised three daughters, Amy, Tessa, and Rachel. Tragically, he lost his daughter Tessa to a rare form of brain cancer in 2012. A foundation has been set up in her name to provide financial assistance to BC High School students planning to pursue a post-secondary education.
