Jay Tremonti

Jay Tremonti is entering his seventh year as head coach of the Douglas College Men’s Volleyball program. An alumnus of the University of Toronto, Jay spent five years playing volleyball at the top level with the university’s team. He then moved to Vancouver, where he coached the Delta Secondary School Sr. Boys Volleyball team to an eighth-place finish in the province. He currently coaches at the Seaside Volleyball Club, where he recently led the boys U16 team to a first-place provincial finish. Jay is also the Fraser Valley Regional Program Manager for Volleyball BC.

In terms of qualifications, Jay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education, which he obtained during his time at the University of Toronto. He is also a NCCP (National Coaching Certificate Program) Advanced Development Coach-In-Training.

Tremonti’s philosophy for coaching revolves around competition. He believes that competition is the essential tool for growth - both in personal and athletic development. Jay defines competition as “players striving to be their better selves”. Everything he does in coaching is to develop and foster competition.

Jay was born and raised in Dryden, Ontario, where his mother, Lorna, and his father, Albert, still reside. He also has a sister who is a student at Brandon University, in Manitoba. He currently lives in Vancouver with his girlfriend, Tineke.
