In a very emotional contest on Sunday the Royals and Mariners played to a 1-1 tie in which three yellow cards and a red card were issued.

The Royals opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Miguel Contuliono Ferrari scored on a beautiful header off a crossing pass. The Royals took the one-goal lead into halftime.

In the 61st minute Billy Bagiopolous and the Mariners worked the give and go to perfection, getting the return pass right up the middle and knocked his shot past the Royals keeper Jacob McCall to even the game.

Both teams had their chances down the stretch but couldn't break the tie. McCall and the Mariners keeper Kevin Picard, prior to his red card, were solid in net.
On Saturday the Royals (1-0-1) will visit the Capilano Blues (0-3-1) while the Mariners (1-1-1) invade the Langara Falcons nest (2-0-1).
